Sand Castle

The Mexican hospitality group Namron has earned a reputation for intimate, best-in-class resorts and restaurants spanning Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende. Now, it unveils its seventh boutique hotel, Xela (pronounced “shell-ah”), on Tulum Beach. Set between the Caribbean Sea and lush jungle, the former dwelling has been transformed by local architect Carlos Larios into a unique retreat with artful interiors, native hardwood furnishings and a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. Melbourne’s Heide Museum of Modern Art presents “Surrealist Lee Miller”, a career-spanning exhibition featuring 100 photographs by the pioneering American photographic artist Lee Miller. Curated by Miller’s son, Antony Penrose, the exhibit explores the diverse facets of the artist’s work, from her years spent in New York and Paris to her unsettlingly beautiful wartime documentary and creative circle (including Dora Maar and Pablo Picasso).
